When ‘Wicked’ Is Coming to Streaming

We’ve got some “Wicked” good news for musical-theater kids who simply could not contain themselves in the movie theater: Peacock will exclusively stream “Wicked,” including the singalong version, starting on March 21.

Additionally, “Wicked” is bringing with it a “full collection” of bonus content, per Universal/Peacock. And that’s not an oversell.

“Wicked” is nominated for 10 Oscars, including Best Picture. It stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, a “misunderstood young woman who has yet to discover her true power, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman who has yet to discover her true heart,” the synopsis reads. “The two meet at Shiz University and forge an unlikely friendship — before their lives take different paths following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Their extraordinary adventures will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.”

The Universal Pictures smash hit is executive produced by Stephen Schwartz, David Nicksay, Jared LeBoff, Winnie Holzman, and Dana Fox. It is produced by Marc Platt and David Stone. The film is based on the stage play with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the book by Holzman, and the novel by Gregory Maguire. The “Wicked” screenplay was written by Holzman and Fox. It was directed by Jon M. Chu.
