Where to get free Fantasia in FFXIV

Where to get free Fantasia in FFXIV

You can get two free Fantasias in Final Fantasy 14, as of the the launch of Dawntrail’s 7.0 update.

Before, you’d have to clear most of A Realm Reborn to claim you first free Fantasia, but now you can get one as early as level 17.

Below we explain where to get the free Fantasia in FFXIV.

What are Fantasias in FFXIV?

Fantasias are single-use potions that allow you to completely change your character’s appearance. If you want to change races, faces, or other features like that, you’ll need to use a Fantasia. (For hair styles and face paint, you can just call the aesthetician.)

You usually have to pay $10 per Fantasia with bundles of them being slightly discounted, but you can snag a few for free in-game.

You will get a Fantasia for free by completing the main scenario quests in A Realm Reborn, as it’s a reward for finishing the level 50 quest “The Ultimate Weapon.”

There’s also an easier method (as of patch 7.0) by completing level 17 ARR main scenario quest “The Scions of the Seventh Dawn.”

For this latter method, once you have squared away that quest, head to Ul’dah – Steps of Thal and talk to the Medicine Merchant NPC north of the Sapphire Avenue Exchange and accept the quest “Bottled Fantasy.”

After making a quick delivery, this robed NPC will give you a free Fantasia for your time. Nice.

How to use Fantasia in FFXIV

There are just a few steps to using a Fantasia:

  1. Use the Fantasia item in your inventory.
  2. Unequip everything from your character. They can still have their weapon equipped. (And maybe find a private place so you don’t log back on in the middle of New Gridania completely naked.)
  3. Log off.
  4. Select your character from the usual login screen and select “re-edit character.”
  5. Make any changes you want to your character.
  6. Log back in.

As of the 7.0 Dawntrail patch, you can make changes to your character within one hour of gameplay time since the first initial character edit. The one-hour timer does not go down when you’re logged off, so you’ll have plenty of time to look at your character in different environments and scenarios before locking in your decision.

You can also use the Fantasia and just choose to not edit your character, saving the ability to edit it for as long as you want. Fantasias do not expire.
