Although the teen sex comedy wasn’t the biggest box office hit, Bottoms — which stars Emmy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winner Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott — is likely to find its audience on home video.

It’s now available to stream in 4K Ultra HD on Prime Video for Prime members only.

Co-written and directed by Emma Seligman, the film follows PJ and Josie, played by Sennott and Edebiri, two unpopular, superficial queer high school students who start a girls-only fight club to get the attention of their cheerleader love interests, played by Kaia Gerber and Havana Rose Liu, respectively, before graduation.

The film also stars Ruby Cruz, Nicholas Galitzine, Miles Fowler, Dagmara Domińczyk and Marshawn Lynch as Mr. G, a sad sack teacher going through a divorce.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at SXSW 2023, co-writers Emma Seligman, who directed Shiva Baby, and Sennott revealed that Wet Hot American Summer, Bring It On and Scott Pilgrim were among the films that inspired Bottoms.

As for critical reception, Bottoms received mostly favorable reviews, but THR‘s film critic was more mixed on the film overall. “The high-school sex comedy — written by the Shiva Baby director and her co-conspirator Rachel Sennott — shocks with its raunchy romp and robust offensiveness,” penned critic Lovia Gyarkye. “But comes up short on the revelatory vulnerability that would make it as subversive as it wants to be.”

Bottoms is available to stream on Prime Video with a subscription to Amazon Prime.
