It Ends With Us is out now in theaters and audiences are about to fall in love with rising star Alex Neustaedter, who plays the role of Young Atlas.
The 26-year-old actor brings a sweet and touching quality to Atlas’ high school years in his scenes with co-star Isabella Ferrer, who plays Young Lily.
While Alex has been working for years, this might be your first introduction to him. So lets fill you in on what you should know!

Alex grew up in Kansas and relocated to Los Angeles with his family when he was 13 so he could pursue acting. His big break came in 2015 when he landed the lead role in the indie film Ithaca, directed by Meg Ryan.
“I told my mom before the audition with Meg, ‘If I don’t get this, I feel like I might want to take it easy on continuing,”’ he told the Kansas City Star. “I was on the audition grind for three or four years in L.A. and not really finding much success at all. Booking that film gave me the confidence and showed me what on-set time was like.”
Alex has also been seen in movies like The Tribes of Palos Verdes, A.X.L., American Woman, and Things Heard & Seen. He’s had recurring roles on TV shows like Colony and American Rust, though the latter was recently canceled.
“I’m more excited now that I don’t have anything,” he said about the cancellation. “I’ve been connected to Rust for like four years. It’s been a very big part of my life. But I’m really excited to find and do something new.”
Alex has revealed that he never met his Atlas counter-part Brandon Sklenar until summer 2024, when they did promo work together. Their paths never crossed on set as they didn’t share any scenes.
Next up on Alex‘s film slate is a movie titled Janus opposite Grace Van Dien and Natalie Alyn Lind.
Alex does have an Instagram account, but he rarely ever uses it!
“I try and stay offline as best as I can. So I haven’t experienced it a lot yet personally,” he told Kansas City Star. “It’s amazing that the fans are so passionate about the story … and I’m really interested to see what they think because I know they’re very excited and passionate about it.”
