Aldi Recalls Chocolate Chip Muffins Sold Nationwide

Aldi Recalls Chocolate Chip Muffins Sold Nationwide

If you shop at Aldi, there’s a new food recall you need to be aware of. According to an announcement from the Food & Drug Administration, FGF Brands Inc. is recalling 11,830 cases of Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffins because of undeclared walnuts. The recalled muffins were distributed to Aldi stores nationwide.

The now-recalled pastries are sold in groups of four, and come in a clear plastic clamshell with a red label. Additionally, the recalled muffins are marked with lot # NF1 142Y on the top, and a UPC on the label that reads: 4099100048278

Per the FDA, no illnesses or adverse effects have been reported in connection with this recall to date. Still, people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these muffins. Shoppers who have purchased Aldi Bakeshop Chocolate Chip Muffins are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Additionally, production of the muffins has been suspended until the FDA and FGF Brands Inc. are certain that the problem has been corrected.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the muffins (made with walnuts) were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of walnuts. A subsequent investigation has indicated that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes.

Consumers with questions about this recall may contact FGF Brands Inc. at customercare@fgfbrands.com.

This muffin recall comes days after more than 65 distinct ice cream products were recalled nationwide, which itself followed another nationwide recall of over 250 different canned coffee products.
