Amazon’s Pasta Bowl Blates Look Like Le Creuset

I’ve been a fan of Le Creuset’s beautiful, well-made plates and bowls since I used them at a friend’s home. But when I found out how much she spent on the dishes, I started researching more affordable alternatives. That’s how I came across these large pasta bowls on Amazon.

These half-bowl, half-plate hybrids, which are also known as blates, have all but replaced the plates and bowls in my home. They’re so versatile and lightweight that my husband and I use them for almost everything, including pasta, salads, pot pies, and soups. The blates are also scratch-resistant, dishwasher-, microwave- and freezer-safe—and they’re on sale for $27 for a set of four.

When mine arrived, I put them to the test and ran a knife across them to see if they were really as durable as reviewers said. Even my sharpest knife couldn’t cut into the strong ceramic glaze. And that gave me peace of mind: I can put almost anything in these dishes, including sizzling steaks, and cut into my food without damaging the dinnerware. 

Now that I have them, I eat most (if not all) of my meals from them, clean them in my high-heat dishwasher, put them in the freezer and microwave, and treat them as I would any other quality dish that I’ve purchased in the past.
