Amazon’s Pasta Bowl Blates Look Like Le Creuset

I’ve been a fan of Le Creuset’s beautiful, well-made plates and bowls since I used them at a friend’s home. But when I found out how much she spent on the dishes, I started researching more affordable alternatives. That’s how I came across these large pasta bowls on Amazon.
These half-bowl, half-plate hybrids, which are also known as blates, have all but replaced the plates and bowls in my home. They’re so versatile and lightweight that my husband and I use them for almost everything, including pasta, salads, pot pies, and soups. The blates are also scratch-resistant, dishwasher-, microwave- and freezer-safe—and they’re on sale for $27 for a set of four.

These blates are wide with high lips, so they keep foods contained and offer more space than my traditional bowls. With these blates, I can serve my favorite breakfast, grits with eggs, turkey bacon, and toast all in one dish without the crispy parts getting soggy. It’s the same for my favorite lunch, a turkey pot pie, where it’s essential to let the best part—the crust—mingle with the gravy without getting overwhelmed by it.
Real Simple
I’ve even considered replacing my puppy’s food bowl with one of these blates, and I’m not alone in that thought. “I got these to use as cat food dishes because my cat pushes food off a plate, but doesn’t like to put his face into a bowl” a fellow Amazon customer wrote. The blates solved their problem because the rim is the perfect height to keep his cat’s food inside.
Another shopper confirmed that the blates are durable after surviving a drop on tile floors. When mine arrived, I put them to the test and ran a knife across them to see if they were really as durable as reviewers said. Even my sharpest knife couldn’t cut into the strong ceramic glaze. And that gave me peace of mind: I can put almost anything in these dishes, including sizzling steaks, and cut into my food without damaging the dinnerware.
Now that I have them, I eat most (if not all) of my meals from them, clean them in my high-heat dishwasher, put them in the freezer and microwave, and treat them as I would any other quality dish that I’ve purchased in the past.
With 3,000 five-star ratings and more than 200 bought in the past month, these blates are on their way to best-seller status. Get them while they’re on sale for $7 apiece, or if you’re still on the hunt, check out these pasta bowls that have also received rave reviews from Amazon shoppers and cost a lot less than Le Creuset bowls.
